Another appointment

Another visit to Toronto and another appointment checked off the list.

I went for an SRS readiness assessment with a counselor that I got to know through the class I went to in the fall. I wasn't really sure what to expect, but that seems to be the case with all the appointments I walk into (hey I'm not a counselor or a doctor, and I'd hope that if I'm seeking help from either they wouldn't expect me to be either)

The appointment went really well and the letter will be on it's way to me after he write it and from there I can bring it to whatever appointment I may need to bring it to. I don't actually know what appointment I'll need to bring it to yet but that's me, over prepared and quick about it.

We talked about what kind of surgery I'm looking for (hysto and top surgery) what my goal time from was for it (by the time I'm 30 if there is any higher power) and what concerns I had (uh... if my fallopian tubes are not connected will that affect the hysto?) and his responses really gave me some new found hope in the situation.

He said that he doesn't see why I would have any issues with getting through the CAMH process as long as I have documentation that proves my Real Life Experience (RLE) and not only do I have my license changed to male as proof (changed in July 2011) but I have also preempted this by asking, when I came out to him,  the manager of my store if he would write me such a letter for me should the need arise.

The counselor also let me know that the wait list with CAMH includes approximately 120 clients (which he had recently called to confirm) and that the wait was approximately 8 - 10 months between the questionnaire being sent in and the first appointment.  I sent my questionnaire back around the second week of August. That puts my 8 months at April and 10 at June so you'd think if they were going to be making my appointment for April or June that they would be contacting me fairly soon.

Anyway, I am hoping that it's a fairly expedient process once I do actually get in to see them, or at least with the confidence that was shown in my suitability to make it through their screening I hope it is. I'd rather it take a while to get approved than to be rejected quickly really. Which could mean looking at surgery by next winter which would be super.

I have another appointment with Dr. Voyvodic on the 25th.
